Vision Express and the Macular Society work together to help raise awareness of the needs of more than 600,000 people in the UK affected by macular conditions and promote the importance of an eye test to combat preventable sight loss.
300,000 people are estimated to be living with undetected glaucoma in the UK today. By working with the IGA, we hope to raise awareness of the risk factors for the condition so that more people with glaucoma can be detected and treated.
Vision Express has supported Temple Street since 2012. Temple Street Hospital is Ireland's leading children's hospital treating over 145,000 sick children from Ireland each year. Donations to the hospital's Ophthalmology Department have helped provide better eye health equipment for children with visual problems.
Up to 60% of stroke survivors will experience visual problems, yet one in three stroke survivors are not warned that sight loss could be an issue or that treatment and support are available. Through an eye test, Vision Express Optometrists can identify indicators of increased blood pressure, which is the biggest stroke risk.
An estimated 2,900 casualties on the road a year are caused by poor driver eyesight. Because of this, Brake are working with Vision Express to raise awareness on driver eye health. Brake is a national road safety charity that exists to stop the needles deaths and serious injuries that happen on roads every day, through campaigning and supporting those affected by road crashes.
