Vision Express in Grimsby will be celebrating their 21st birthday on Saturday with the help of local entertainer and DJ Steve Gladding of North Star Entertainment as master of ceremonies and local singer Leah Hall accompanied by her backing dancers from CAST theatre company.
Competitions will be taking place all day on Saturday 23 June, with a chance to guess the name of the doll and the chance to win a pair of designer sunglasses worth up to £100, as well as face painting, balloon modelling, and makeovers by The Body Shop. Funds raised by the events will be donated to Vision Express’s nominated charity CHECT to raise awareness about children’s eye cancer and its symptoms. The Childhood Eye Cancer Trust Chief Executive Joy Felgate said: "Retinoblastoma is a treatable cancer but is often diagnosed too late to save a child's eye. This is mainly because parents didn't have the information which could have led them to seek help earlier."
Store manager Kate Melville said, “We are really excited about our 21st birthday celebrations taking place this weekend and we hope our customers will enjoy the day with us. It is a great way of supporting CHECT and the fantastic work they do to raise awareness of childhood eye cancer.”
