Vision Express urge cyclists to keep eyes in check with the Eye Cycle Safe Scheme

Research conducted by Transitions® Optical amongst 1,500 cycling enthusiasts discovered a shocking one in four are not having regular eye examinations and are also risking serious health problems as almost half are not protecting their eyes against harmful UV rays, despite spending on average an extra hour outside every day than non-cyclists.

This weekend, cyclists throughout Somerset and Devon will be taking part in the first of three Tour Rides, organised by the Prostate Cancer charity, which will put even the keenest of cyclists through their paces with a gruelling 175km route from Minehead to Teignmouth.

Vision Express will be attending the Tour Rides to offer cyclists and their supporters free vision checks and advice on eyecare and eyewear.

Frances Hughes, Store Manager at Vision Express, Teignmouth says: "Cyclists will have the opportunity to enter a competition to win some great cycling prizes including a bike, and we'll be giving away plenty of freebies and information. I'd urge anyone who enjoys cycling to pop by for a free vision check so we can declare them safe to cycle."

Visit the Vision Express stand at the South West Tour Ride on Teignmouth Seafront this Sunday 5th September between 9am - 6pm.
